We Love the “We’re Awkward in Front of the Camera” Couples — Because They Always End Up Loving Their Photos

Lots of couples says the same thing when they first enquire with us: “We’re not very comfortable having our photo taken…” And honestly? That’s completely normal.

Most people don’t spend their weekends posing for cameras, and the idea of being told to “stand here, tilt your head, hold this pose” can feel… a bit much. Especially on your wedding day.

A Real Example: Tigs & Fraz & The New Year’s Arcade 🎰✨

One of our favourite examples for this approach has to be Tigs & Fraz.

They got married on New Year’s Eve in Weymouth. The day was energetic, full of colour, and completely focused on what mattered most to them: spending quality time with their friends and family. Neither of them wanted to disappear for ages for photographs, and they were very clear they didn’t want posed pictures. (Say no more.)

Just a short walk from the promenade, there’s a seaside arcade, we noticed it was about to close… lights still on, machines buzzing. On a bit of a whim (and with some polite enthusiasm), we asked security if we could quickly pop in with the bride and groom.

He laughed and said he’d never had a bride and groom ask to do that before… and then happily let us in.

What followed wasn’t posing. There were no instructions like “stand here” or “tilt your head”. Instead, just play. We’d throw out gentle prompts like: “Have a go on the bikes.” or “Stand back to back like Charlie’s Angels.” (IYKYK)

The best part? They completely forgot about the camera. They laughed, teased each other and that’s where the magic really happens.

The photographs are full of movement, genuine laughter, and that unmistakable energy that only comes from people being fully themselves.

The shoot itself was short and intentionally so because they wanted to get straight back to their guests. But in that small window of time, we captured something that feels completely them.

These images don’t just show how they looked. They show how they felt.

So… If You Think You’re “Awkward in Front of the Camera”

Plandid something into your day. When you’re doing something - walking, playing, chatting, dancing, teasing each other, your brain stops thinking about the camera. You’re present with each other. Your shoulders drop. Your expressions soften. You forget the camera.

That’s what plandids are all about. You don’t need to be confident. You don’t need to know what to do with your hands. You don’t need to “pose well”.

You just need to be together.
