If there’s one thing we think about for a wedding day, it’s: How can we help couples spend less time worrying about photos and more time actually enjoying the day?
Enter… Photo Roulette.
It’s fast, fun, interactive, and one of our absolute favourite parts of the day to set up not just for the couple, but for their guests too!
So… What Is Photo Roulette?
Photo Roulette is a high-energy, organised (but very relaxed) way of getting photos with more groups and attendees at your wedding without spending half your reception being pulled away from the dance floor for some iPhone snaps that get lost in a group chat or posted on a story never to be seen again!
Quick disclaimer: "we can’t take credit for inventing this. We spotted it on TikTok somewhere and started introducing it to our couples in 2025 and honestly, we are so glad we did!

Here’s how it works:
1. The couple either sit on chairs or stand comfortably in one spot, we set the camera on a tripod and frame everything up!
2. Your wedding party gather to one side.
We step in as friendly game-show hosts (and hype crew), calling out prompts to organise your guests into smaller groups, such as:
- “Groom’s football team!”
- “Bride’s besties!”
- “Uncles, cousins & nieces!”
- “The tag-alongs!”
- “Anyone who’s known you since school!”
- “Everyone who’s already had a drink!”
The first group runs in, gets a photo with the two of you,
we then shout “NEXT!” for the following group
Why Couples (and Guests) Love It
Photo Roulette isn’t about perfection - it’s about energy.
Guests love it because:
- It’s interactive (they’re part of the day, not just watching it)
- It breaks the ice and gets people mixing
- It feels like a shared moment, not a queue
Couples love it because:
- You get photos with everyone
- You’re not constantly being tapped on the shoulder for phone photos later on
- It fits your schedule!
And from our side? It’s such a joyful part of the day to photograph and be a part of.
When’s the Best Time for Photo Roulette?
The sweet spot?
During the drinks reception, just before the wedding breakfast, or early evening once everyone’s relaxed (and maybe a little tipsy 👀).
We’ll always help you choose a moment that fits your timeline and energy — nothing forced, nothing rushed.
Is Photo Roulette for Every Couple?
Honestly? Probably not — and that’s okay too!
Photo Roulette is perfect if you:
Want your wedding to feel fun and social
Care more about moments than perfection
Love candid, plandid-style wedding photography
Want to spend time with guests, not organising them
If that sounds like you… it’s a no-brainer.
That said, not every couple wants games or structure, some prefer to let the day unfold naturally. And we love how unique a wedding day can be.
We’ll never tell you what you should do, but if your guests love a laugh and a bit of chaos, this is one we highly recommend.
Final Thoughts
Weddings don’t need more structure — they need more moments.
Photo Roulette:
- Brings people together
- Saves time
- Creates genuinely brilliant wedding photos
- Adds a burst of joy and energy to your day
And if you’re thinking “YES, this is so us!” — let’s talk.
